Park & Rec. Meeting Minutes for 05-01-06


Attendees were Shannon Payne, Al Howarth, Jan Fletcher, Linette Crouch, Doug Latham, Misty Wright, Dave Meisinger and  Phil Algreen. Guests: Kent Zarley and Vitus Bering from SVPA Architects and Sammy Meisinger,



SVPA Architects: Kent Zarley and Vitus Bering presented a master plan for Gendler Park. The plan includes soccer fields, baseball and softball diamonds, shelter houses, grills, dog park, disc golf, sand volleyball, playgrounds, skateboard park, fishing, and walking trails. The plan will be posted at the school.


Shelter House: Sammy Meisinger reported on the progress of the shelter house at the Recreation Park by the soccer fields. The concrete has been poured and poles are in place. The roof will go on Saturday May 6th and any volunteer help would be appreciated. Sammy will get one trash can ordered and Dennis Brott is going to build two grills for the cost of materials. 


28E Agreement: Doug Latham reported that the School Board had a couple questions about the wording of the agreement. Shannon will revise and it will be resubmitted.


Playground Equipment: Shannon Payne presented a plan for playground equipment at the city park. She will get a delivered price and if acceptable will be voted on at next meeting.


Concession Stand: Phil Algreen moved that a job description be written for the position of stocking and inventorying the concession stand and that job be offered to Nicole Beckett upon her approval. Jan Fletcher seconded and motion passed. Position will pay $10.00/hour. Doug Latham moved and Al Howarth seconded a motion to have Linette Crouch spend up to $700.00 to have a sink with hot water installed at the concession stand. Motion passed.


Summer Program: Linette Crouch will talk to Jeff Finn about the summer program coordinator position to determine what should be included in the job description when hiring for the position.


Water line and Scoreboard: Jan Fletcher reported that a water line to the baseball and softball diamonds will be completed soon. Doug Latham reported that the scoreboard for the baseball field should be done in a couple weeks.
